Harmonica Book
Teaching myself the harmonica. Any tips?
I’m learning guitar with a teacher, but I thought I might have a crack at learning harmonica by myself (the cheap way). I have a book and everything, but I can’t seem to shake the feeling that I’m doing something wrong. Anyway, does anybody have any harmonica playing and/or learning tips for me? About anything.
(And if anybody dares to write something I’d rather not read – and you know full well what I mean – I’ll hit Report before you can say ‘innuendo’).
I also play guitar and I thought I’d try to learn harmonica…One thing I would suggest is to figure out what the notes on the harmonica are before you buy it.
I thought I could easily just take stuff from the guitar and play it on the harmonica but it didn’t seem to work that way…I mean I know that harmonicas come in a certain “key” and I understand what “key signature” is and some basic music theory….(I didn’t buy a “C” harp…though I wish I would have started with one of those…it may have been easier)
but there seems to be something very tricky about the drawing in and the exhaling…about which note is which…It wasn’t as straightforward as I thought it should be…
also supposedly there is a way to “bend” the notes …it got too complex for me…
