Piano Sheet

Is there any way to develop the visualization of Piano Sheet Music as a skill?
Can most people visualize sheet music when they memorize piano songs? I haven’t figured out a way to develop a visual image of piano sheet music yet, so I’m wondering if there is any way that I can develop the imagery in my mind to show me the sheet music? It would help me substantially because it would provide a backup from a mistake in muscle memory which has happened to me several times.
Interesting question. I don’t tend to rely on my muscle memory, or visualization of the sheet music. I usually try to just remember how the song sounds, and that helps me remember what to play. I also try to think ahead to the next phrase or chord, rather than just thinking about what I’m playing.
I’ve been singing in choirs as long as I’ve been playing the piano (19 years), so these tips might not apply to you. The best generalized advice I can give is to find something that works for you, and expand on it. Practice makes permanent. Perfect practice makes perfect.
